An RV caravan from the Tin Can Tourists will tour Pennsylvania Highway 6 this June. The caravan of classic trailers will travel across at least half of the highway with stops in several communities and campgrounds along the way.
From June 4 to June 14, a caravan of approximately 30 classic vehicles and camping trailers will visit communities and historic sites across the western half of the historic and scenic highway. The caravan plans to stop for two days in a town or at a campground and hold an “open house” for residents and visitors to see these antique and mostly restored cars, trucks and classic recreational vehicles.
On Friday, June 4, traveling east on Route 6 from the Ohio line, the caravan will arrive at the Brookdale Family Campground in Meadville, near mile marker 24. An Open House will be held on Saturday, June 5, from 1 to 4 p.m.
On Sunday, June 6, the caravan will travel to the town of Port Allegany in McKean County, between mile marker 159 and 160, for a community event including a “Walk Around” viewing of the vintage trailers and motor coaches, participation in a car show and a meal.
An Open House on Monday, June 7 will take place at the nearby Allegheny River Campground, Roulette, near mile marker 170 from 3 to 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, June 8, the caravan will travel to Galeton, near mile marker 198, where it will set up in the John J Collins Memorial Park, right on the lake. An open house will be held on Wednesday, June 9 from 1 to 4 p.m..
The caravan moves in Mansfield, near mile marker 234 on Thursday, June 10, where it will set up in Town Park. An open house will be held on Friday, June 11 from 1 to 4 p.m.
On Saturday, June 12th, the caravan turns around and heads back west to Conneaut Lake Park and ends its stay in Pennsylvania.

Campground Owners of New York (CONY) announces the availability of its 2010 Campground & RV Park Guide. The guide is free and available by visiting their Web site and filling out the online request form, or calling CONY toll-free at (800) 497-2669.
Entitled “Camping New York Style,” the 100-page guide highlights the features and amenities for over 210 privately-operated campgrounds and RV parks across New York State. The guide is a handy reference tool for researching and booking just the right campsite for your next vacation.

Bangor Camping and RV Show cancelled
Though many of the nation's economists and some politicians--especially those in the current administration--are proclaiming the recession over and declaring that we are now in the recovery period, you won't convince the promoters of the Bangor, Maine Camping and RV Show.
After 24 years, the 25th Bangor Camping and RV Show scheduled for this weekend at the Bangor Civic Center has been canceled due to lack of interest from vendors, according to Bass Park Director Mike Dyer.
The event, which is organized by Bass Park and Civic Center staff, has been held every year since 1986. Dyer explained, however, that in order to fill the space at the Civic Center, at least three large vendors are needed. This year, only two had committed.
“It actually goes back to last year when dealers lost some of their co-op money [from RV manufacturers] to participate in the show,” Dyer said. “Last year, we cut the amount of rental space in half with the thought that something was better than nothing. This year, we were going to proceed that same way, but it didn’t happen.”
“Rather than attempting to deliver a sub par show, with fewer options for the show attendees, management has opted to take a year off,” Dyer said in a statement on Bass Park’s Web site. “It is our intention to come back in 2011 in an improved economy, stronger than ever.”
